I founded WAIA in 2023, when AI art was still emerging and the field felt unusually open and undefined. I was seeing women and LGBTQ+ artists doing ambitious, experimental work, but there was very little infrastructure around visibility, community, or recognition. I wanted to create a space where that work could be seen, discussed, and connected to real opportunities.
A global community and platform with 500+ members on Discord and more than 5,000 across social media.
The brand, the main website at womenaiartists.org (no longer live), the artist directory (still live), and the social content and outreach that grew the community. I published 45 interviews with 45 different artists.
I managed the community, a group of volunteers, and a board of advisors. I organized two juried selections: nearly 200 artists submitted and 79 were selected for the directory. Niceaunties was among the jurors.
I built a partnership with Runway ML that included sponsored AI art competitions and artist features in Telescope Magazine. I also partnered with Prompt Magazine.
The directory and interviews helped artists gain visibility and led to collaboration opportunities. WAIA is not in an active growth phase now, and the directory stays online as a living archive of that moment in AI art.
